“Scorched Earth: Belgian Artists and the Industrial Landscape” by Sura Levine (Lecture 10/18/2017)

In conjunction with Nature’s Mirror: Reality and Symbol in Belgian Landscape, the McMullen Museum invited Professor Sura Levine, Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies at Hampshire College, to examine ways that Belgian artists rendered the industrial landscapes of the Borinage and the pays noir in the period from c. 1880 to 1920.
